Funding

How do trucking companies finance growth?

Trucking companies usually finance growth in pieces: equipment financing for each truck or trailer, a term loan for bigger multi-part plans, and working capital for the weeks between taking on new freight and getting paid. The right mix depends on time with authority, deposits, credit and whether freight is lined up.

Which option fits which growth move?

Match the product to what you are buying and how long it will earn. Trucks and trailers you will run for years usually belong on equipment financing. A push that adds trucks, drivers and a yard at once can fit a term loan. Short gaps, like a contract ramp-up or peak season, fit working capital or revenue-based financing.

What do funders look at across all of these?

Requirements vary by product and funder; many look at time in business, monthly revenue and credit. For carriers that means time with authority, business bank deposits, current truck payments, safety record and a plan to keep new equipment loaded. Equipment deals also weigh the truck or trailer itself.

Some owners also compare alternatives such as freight factoring or carrier lease-purchase programs. Our qualification guide and How It Works page explain the review in plain terms.

Frequently asked questions

Can a one-truck owner-operator use growth financing?

Yes. Many carriers start with one truck and grow one unit at a time. Owner-operators often begin with equipment financing on their own truck, then use the payment history and deposits from that truck to support the second. See our owner-operators page for the typical path.

Do I need a signed contract before adding trucks?

Not always, but freight to keep the truck loaded matters. A signed shipper agreement or dedicated lane strengthens an application and lowers your own risk. Carriers growing on spot or broker freight can still qualify, with more attention on deposit history.

How fast can growth funding arrive?

It depends on the product and your documents. Some approvals come within a day or two when bank statements and equipment details are ready. SBA loans and multi-part deals usually take longer.
